The Day the Earth Stood Still

IESB.net is reporting a rumor, that has been denied by 20th Century Fox, that Angelina Jolie was offered the lead role in a remake of the classic 1951 film "The Day the Earth Stood Still." The same story says that Scott Derrickson has been approached to direct.

A Sitcom For Cavemen

A Slice of Sci Fi reports that those "It's so easy even a caveman can do it" guys were the subject of an ABC Network announcement that they have plans to turn those Cavemen into a weekly 30 minute sitcom. ("It's About Time" anyone?)

The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles

TVShowsOnDVD.com has news about "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" direct from George Lucas himself right here. Plus Coming Soon collects reports from The Force and IESB, in which Lucas talks about the upcoming "Clone Wars" animated series. Lucas promised: "There won't be anything on TV like it." The Force goes on to say: "It won't be dealing with the Skywalker story. The emphasis is on freedom to portray anything they feel like; for instance some episodes are just about clonetroopers, another features as the main character Kit Fisto. He's going to make 100 episodes, doesn't have a network yet."

Groo

At Wondercon creators Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones held a panel about "Groo the Wanderer," from news about collected editions from Dark Horse, to a possible Groo/Conan crossover, and the finally the status of the CGI-animated Groo movie. More is printed by The Comic Wire right here.

I Sell the Dead

Dominic Monaghan and Ron Perlman are set to star in Glenn McQuaid's "I Sell the Dead." The film tells of 18th-century corpse traders (Monaghan and Larry Fessenden) who perform services for an aristocratic doctor (Angus Scrimm). Perlman is in final talks to play a priest who takes confession from Monaghan's character. Writer-director Glenn McQuaid will begin shooting in May in New York, scheduled between the end of Monaghan's "Lost" shooting and the beginning of Perlman's "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" shoot.
