Spider-Man 5, Gojira, Criminal Macabre, TV DVD News, Mildred Pierce, St. Elmo's Fire, Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, Comic Previews

Spider-Man 5

SciFi Wire reports here that Sony Pictures has hired writer James Vanderbilt for this 2012 sequel and the next.

Gojira

Reelzchannel.com is quoting sources here that say Legendary Pictures is interested in producing another big-budget Godzilla feature. I am mixed about this one. It took me awhile before I could look at the other Hollywood movie as an "Okay monster movie with nothing to do with the Godzilla I know and love from my childhood." I guess I could do it again. But I'll miss the giant version of wrestling in rubber suits.

Criminal Macabre

Variety reports here the 2012 Steve Niles miniseries from Dark Horse Entertainment (Adapted by Kyle Ward) has been picked up by Universal. Just think of it this way: Kolchak without the straw hat.

TV DVD News

TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted info about "Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire" (Season 1) here, "The Judy Garland Show" (Holiday Special) here, "The Jerry Lewis Show" (Best of . . .) here, "Tales of Wells Fargo" (Season 6) here, "Highlander: The Series" (Season 1, Blu-ray) here, "The Prisoner" (Complete Series) here.

Mildred Pierce

Cinematical reports here that the Joan Crawford classic is on its way to the small screen, embodied by Kate Winslet. The cable miniseries will be directed by Todd Haynes. It hasn't been bought by an outlet, but, rumor is HBO is interested.

St Elmo's Fire

Variety tell us that the remake by Joel Schumacher will appear as an hour long TV series on ABC. Shumacher said: "I feel it is time to re-create 'Friends' in the hour long genre and feel like this is the perfect opportunity."

Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires

Fangoria Radio spoke to Ron Perlman about his role as Elvis in the 2011 prequel here. Perlman said: "Well, I have this window that's about to open. I'll be done shooting Sons of Anarchy in September, and we're hoping to get into production on Bubba in my hiatus between seasons two and three. I just spoke to Paul Giamatti and Don Coscarelli this morning, and we're just moving the ball down the field, trying to get her done."

Special thanks to Movie Goods.com for so many of the dynamite movie posters we use from time to time. You cannot find a better place to run down those new or classic posters.
