According to this story on Movie Retriever.com both star Sharlto Copley and director Neil Blomkamp revealed that they would both be interested in a sequel, if the film does as well as expected.
CinemaSpy reports here that the film adaptation may have trouble due to a lawsuit brought by the author's family. Steven Maier, the spokesperson for the heirs, says they are is headed for a court date. He told the site: "The litigation process is moving swiftly forward with the trial due to commence in Los Angeles on 19 October. It is expected to last several weeks."
