Spawn 2, Dreams with Sharp Teeth, The A-Team, TV DVD News, Winnie the Pooh, Y: The Last Man, Marvel Comics Freebies, Comic Previews

Spawn 2 has posted this interview with Todd MacFarlane about his hopes for a 2010 cinema reboot. Among other things MacFarlane said: "The main character isn't Spawn, per se, it's the guy chasing Spawn. And I've always had [Leonardo] DiCaprio in the back of my mind. It's a big wish, but his dad was a big fan of underground comic books and he came from that. It's not a big special-effects movie, it's a character movie, so I could shoot it in 40-50 days and you don't have to budget that much time. We had Sam and Twitch in the book, but because of some of the stuff I'm trying to sell in Hollywood, we might have to change the characters a bit. But it would still be a police character who's chasing down a case and in the middle of this Godfather-type movie, something weird is out there and no one knows about it except him and a few other people."

Dreams with Sharp Teeth

Slice of SciFi is giving away 5 free downloadable copies of this excellent documentary on one of the best writers in the field, Harlan Ellison. The contest runs from now through Saturday, June 27 (midnight Pacific). Go here for the info and to enter. Try some clips if you want to sample, here and here. This man is important and the film is a true representation of what and who he is.

The A-Team

Variety is telling us here that the cast is growing. Though no positive word on final choices for "B.A." & "Howling Mad Murdock," Liam Neeson is in talks to play "Hannibal" Smith and Bradley Cooper to play "Faceman" Peck. Rumors have linked rapper Common to the B.A. Barackas role, and Woody Harrelson as "Murdock," though no one is willing to talk about that. Production is scheduled to begin in late August for a June 11th, 2010 release.

TV DVD News has posted info about "Supernatural" (Season 4) here, "Hawaii Five-O" (Season 7) here, "Star Trek" (Seasons 2 & 3 Blu-ray) here, "Astro Boy" (Vols 1-5) here, "The Prisoner" (Complete Series, Blu-ray) here, "Smallville" (Season 8) here.

Winnie the Pooh

Blue Sky Disney posted a note about several new films on the Disney calendar. Here some of what else the House of Mouse has coming up in the animated features department:
"The Princess and the Frog"- 2009
"Rapunzel" - 2010
"King of the Elves" - 2012 (based on Philp K. Dick's story) has this about the Pooh feature.

Y: The Last Man has posted here a story about the last man leaving the 2010 film. Shia LaBeouf has dropped out. LaBeaouf said: "I'm not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around."

Marvel Comics Freebies

Marvel has a couple of things to give you. I'm not talking about the Nick Fury action figure they give if you join their digital comics thing, I'm talking about all 3 episodes of "Marvel Super Heroes: What The--?!" that you can stream here. They are also showing 3 new videos from "Marvel Ulitimate Alliance 2" here.

Special thanks to Movie for so many of the dynamite movie posters we use from time to time. You cannot find a better place to run down those new or classic posters.
