The First Avenger: Captain America

MTV Splashpage reports here that the film already has hired Joe Johnston to direct, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely to write a script and they have pushed the opening back from May 6th, 2011 to July 22, 2011. Still in the wind is the star. Channing Tatum said: "I would love to talk about it… When I'd heard that Will Smith was [interested], I'm just like, 'God, yeah. That's who should play it… It would be a different Captain America than we all know in the comic, but it’s perfect.'" There are a lot of actors out there campaigning for the role and no one has put a signiture on paper yet.

The Crazies

Sci Fi Wire has a nice report here about the 2009 remaking of the 1973 George Romero cult film.

X-Men: First Class

C.H.U.D tells us here the film will be a prequel." Lauren Shuler Donner told Fox Movie Channel: "It is the first class of Xavier's school, way back when, so it's young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that'll be really fun. I think [the plan] is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world. And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up." Sorry guys, most of us knew that already, since we read the comics.
