Devil, Villains, TV DVD News, Superman, Preacher, Comic Previews

Devil

M. Night Shyamalan will produce a supernatural thriller titled "Devil," which will be independently financed project and is based on his idea. No plot details have been revealed. The Brian Nelson script will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle and be produced next year, and they hope to have a PG-13 rating. It will be the first feature Shyamalan has written or produced without directing. Shyamalan said: "This is a dream for me. I wanted to find filmmakers that inspire me and I found them."

Villains

The Hollywood Reporter says here that Universal now has the movie rights to the Viper Comics' graphic novel. No release date, cast or director has been announced.

TV DVD News

TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted info about "The Girls Next Door" (Season 4) here, "Long Way Down" (Mini-Series) here, "Children of the Stones" (Best of . . .) here, "The Real Ghostbusters" (Complete Series) here, "Tripping the Rift"
(Season 3) here, "Little House on the Prairie" (Vol. 1 & 2) here.

Superman

JoBlo.com has posted here the story of Mark Millar's 8 hour proposed Superman trilogy. Millar said: "It's gonna be like Michael Corleone in the Godfather films, the entire story from beginning to end, you see where he starts, how he becomes who he becomes, and where that takes him. The Dark Knight showed you can take a comic book property and make a serious film, and I think the studios are ready to listen to bigger ideas now. I want to start on Krypton, a thousand years ago, and end with Superman alone on Planet Earth, the last being left on the planet, as the yellow sun turns red and starts to supernova, and he loses his powers."

Preacher

Columbia Pictures will adapt the popular 1990s Vertigo series and have Sam Mendes direct the product of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. The comic series ran from 1995-2000 and told the tale of a down-and-out Texas preacher possessed by Genesis, who was a supernatural entity conceived from the union of an angel and a demon. IMDB lists the possible use of the project for a TV Series here.
