Babylon A.D.

Michelle Yeoh told this to SCI FI Wire about the shoot in Prague: "It was a big shoot. We shot in Prague for four months. It's got everything. It's got submarines, helicopters, planes, Hummers, bikes, Jet Skis. You name it, we've got it in there. Nature didn't help. We needed snow and didn't get it. So it was a rough shoot. It's one of those movies whereby the interaction of the characters needed to evolve within the script while we were filming. That's never easy to accomplish, but somehow with Vin [Deisel] and Melanie Thierry and myself, we had an incredible chemistry sparked off by the madness of Mathieu Kassovitz. Religion, war, everything is taken over, and people have lost humanity and hope. And there is this mercenary [Diesel], who has been hiding in the lost world in Europe, because it's war-torn and ravaged. He tries to get home to America, and he's in conflict because there's no way he could get back until someone presented him with this option: Deliver this package, and we will give you safe passage home. These two women have been living out in the remote mountains to get away from all the chaos that's been happening. And as the three of them journey back to America, they discover that people are chasing after them. So it's a journey full of danger, hazard, and they're trying to kidnap the girl as well. Is she a weapon of destruction? The hope to our future? This is something we have to protect. We have to make sure our girl goes into the hands of the right people." "Babylon A.D." will be released on Aug. 29.

Monster Attack Network

Disney has picked up the rights to the graphic novel published by AIT/Planet Lar. Written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman with art by Nima Sorat, this adventure tale is set on the picture-perfect Pacific island of Lapuatu, "perfect in every way…except for the giant monsters." A team of adventurers must deal with rampages and related crises, but faces its biggest challenge when a shady industrialist shows up.

Punisher: War Zone

Comic Book Movie posted a rumor here that director Lexi Alexander has left the production. They say: "Reports hit Monday that Lionsgate took Lexi off the project all-together, and her usually prolific web site has been completely wiped clean except for a pic of the monkeys from 'See no Evil,' 'Hear no Evil,' 'Speak no Evil,' which in turn caused the entertainment news media to blow up the story - - making it seem as though Lexi has no more influence on the movie."

Venom

The hottest villain in Marvel is moving more quickly towards the screen. The Hollywood Reporter says that while Venom was played in "Spider-Man 3" by Topher Grace, Sony Pictures doesn't seem believe the role should be done by someone without star power. Jacob Estes wrote a script several years ago, but the studio is looking for new writers and a new direction for the film. The film is aiming at a 2012 release, but they may want to move it up.
