Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Variety is reporting that Disney is taking the video game and will make a feature starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Jerry Bruckheimer's adaptation of Ubisoft's hit will also feature Gemma Arterton. Gyllenhaal plays Dastan, a prince in sixth-century Persia who joins with Tamina (Arterton), an exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world, the Sands of Time. Shooting begins in July on locations in Morocco and London, for a summer 2009 release.

The Simpsons on Strike

Variety reports that A de facto strike has halted production of "The Simpsons." Demanding raises from around $360,000 per episode to $500,000 are Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe) and Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns). Since the actors are refusing to record dialog for upcoming episodes it seemss that fewer than the usual 22 episodes will make up the next season.
