The Last Airbender

Variety reports here the the M. Night Shyamalan directed live action feature will be released on July 2, 2010. It will be the first of a trilogy based on the Nickelodeon series "Avatar: The Last Airbender." The name change was done to avoid confusion with the James Cameron movie project "Avatar," to be released on December 18, 2009. Empire Magazine posted this interview the director about his plans for the franchise.



Atlantis Rising

The Hollywood Reporter says here that DreamWorks now has the rights for Platinum Studios' comic book, to be a live-action feature.

Legion of 5

This article from the Hollywood Reporter says that Stan Lee along with Rainmaker Entertainment and Brighton Partners will launch a new superhero project, to become a series of CG-animated films with a cross-platform approach that would include games, online and mobile releases, not to mention the potential for unlimited merchandizing. Little details like the characters and story line have not been released.


SAG Strike?

In a Hollywood still realing from the Writer's Strike, negotiations between the Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers are set to begin today. Members of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists will be sitting in as observers, though they have rejected SAG's invitation to rejoin the talks as direct participants.
