The Silver Surfer

J. Michael Straczynski is quoted in this piece in Newsarama talking about what the 2009 film. The article says: "For what the 'Silver Surfer' movie entails Straczynski says it will cover the origin of the character. He said it will feature Galactus, noting that the latest 'Fantastic Four' film held off on showing Galactus to reveal him for this film."

Locke & Key

Variety says that Joe Hill (son of Stephen King) will have his graphic novel "Locke & Key" filmed by Dimension Films. Hill’s first novel, "Heart-Shaped Box" is currently under development at Warner Bros. for a feature film release. "Locke & Key" is about three kids who become the caretakers of a mansion in New England full of secrets and magic. The house is called Keyhouse. Chief and co-owner of Dimension Films, Bob Weinstein, said: "I love what Joe wrote. There are fun elements that horror fans love, and it feels like a franchise where you can feel satisfied with each film, but there is a door left open for the next one."

Iron Man

Sci Fi Wire quotes Jon Favreau in this article, where he says: "I don't want to blow anything, and also I don't honestly know where it's all going to land. I know that there are sort things that have been discussed and tried and talked about. I know at the end of the day on the horizon is 'The Avengers,' and the idea is to have chapters of all of the characters that would contribute to being 'The Avengers' ... Hopefully, we're all going toward 'The Avengers.'" This is where IGN posted a video interview with Favreau at Wondercon. ComicBookMovie.com has posted this page on the Wondercon Iron Man panel.

Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam

The writers' strike has delayed the "Shazam!" film. But director Peter Segal spoke to SCI FI Wire about the newly titled project saying: "I think it'll still happen. Though timing is going to be a key issue now, because . . . normally we'd be working on a script while we're in post-production [on Get Smart], so that hopefully when we're done with post-production, we're ready to go into preproduction [on the next project]. But now we're sort of out of sync, so, unfortunately, I'll have to spend more time with my family. You don't really want to rush something like Shazam. I mean, it's going to be a huge movie. I mean, huge in scope and in price. And so you want to make sure you have a solid script and really pay attention to the casting and all the preproduction that goes into that. So, you know, I think when it's right, it'll be made."
