Riverworld, Thor, Shadow of the Colossus, TV DVD News, Full Metal Panic, Iron Man 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Comic Previews

Riverworld

Sci Fi Channel is doing it again. Back in 2003 they made something and called it "Riverworld," though it had only a slight resemblance to the Philip Jose Farmer books. They started by deleting the 2 lead characters (Sir Richard Francis Burton and Samuel L. Clemens) and then ignored the quest of the books. Well, now they are doing it again. This time they are making a two night, four hour mini-series for 2010 that retains Twain, but they dropped the narrator of the books (Burton) and added a female samurai! They have the story and concept art here, but it hurts my heart what they are doing. It would be like doing Harry Potter and leaving out Hagrid and Dumbledore. Or doing James Bond and leaving out M. Why would you do this? Must we "dumb down" everything?

Thor

MTV Splashpage says here that Channing Tatum spoke to them and confirmed that he was in negotiations to play the lead, but wasn't quite right for the role. Tatum said: "I think they're looking for someone more Nordic-looking." Ya' think? The movie, about the Norse Thunder God, is set to open on May 20, 2011.

Shadow of the Colossus

Coming Soon.net says here that Sony Pictures is adapting the PlayStation 2 game as a live action film, with Justin Marks writing the screenplay. The story tells of a man named Wander travels across a cursed wasteland and must defeat 16 creatures, known as the colossi, in order to restore the life of a girl.

TV DVD News

TVShowsOnDVD.com has posted info about "Eastbound & Down" (Season 1) here, "Sesame Street" (40th Anniversary) here, "The Muppet Show" (Season 4) here, "Designing Women" (Season 1) here, "Dollhouse" (Season 1) here, "Life on Mars" (Season 1) here.

Full Metal Panic

Latino Review reports here that Mandalay Pictures is developing a big-screen version of the Japanese manga series from writer Shoji Gatoh's stories about a teenage anti-terrorist commando named Sousuke Sagara who is given the mission to protect a high-school girl with mystical powers. Zac Efron's name is being thrown around in connection with the project, but then he's being considered for Warner Brothers live action "Jonny Quest."

Iron Man 2

Along with every news site in the world, Marvel announced here that filming began on Monday at 10:24 AM PST in Los Angeles under the cover name of "Rasputin." The film is slated for a May 7, 2010 release date. If you want to keep up, you can look here for the director's twitter page.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Here at the official site they list, among the platforms that can play the game, PS2. This is a change from the original statements. Here is a trailer for the game.
