Nine

When it opened on Broadway in 1982 this musical adaptation of Federico Fellini's autobiographical "8 1/2," it starred Raul Julia and Tommy Tune and wond a boat load of Tony Awards. Originally the Weinstein Co. had the film version set for a March shooting start but it was postponed when the late writer-director Anthony Minghella didn't have enough time to rework Michael Tolkin's screenplay before the WGA strike. Now a Rob Marshall adaptation is tentatively scheduled for a September go date. The cast is nothing if not memorable. Including Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Sophia Loren. Nicole Kidman is due to give birth in the summer, giving her several months of maternity leave before joining the cast.

Cowboys for Christ

Financial woes have ended (at least, for the moment) this sequel to the original "The Wicker Man." The town councils in Dumfries and Galloway Scotland said producers had cancelled a production slated for later this month on the film based on director Robin Hardy's book. Christopher Lee and Joan Collins were due to star and a 90 person crew and cast contingent had been accommodated. The production company is still trying to make new funding arrangements.

Church will play her husband, Walter, who became a celebrity after taking credit for the paintings. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will direct from their script.
