Heroes, Halloween, Liberace, Philip Marlowe, Mike Fright, Comic Previews

Heroes

Not only did the NBC show hold its own against "24" and not only did it get former Dr. Who Christopher Eccleston as invisible Claude, now Eric Roberts is joining the cast says The Hollywood Reporter. Roberts will play Thompson, a new associate of H.R.G. (Horn-Rimmed Glasses - - Jack Coleman) AKA Claire's father.

Halloween

Joblo.com has posted a story that Hayden Panettiere may be playing the female lead Rob Zombie's version of "Halloween." Joblo.com says: "A longtime JoBlo scooper, who's delivered some scoops that have turned out to be on the money and some that have turned out to be a little confused. So take this with a grain of salt but said scooper says that the frontrunner to play Laurie in HALLOWEEN is none other than 'Heroes' star Hayden Panettiere. Says the JoBlo scooper, a deal is not done yet but Panettiere is the favorite of Zombie. I have my doubts that she would take the role in a gore/curse/nudity-fest like Zombie's HALLOWEEN, especially when she has a sugary pop album aimed at the tween audience coming out this spring. There are, reportedly, other actresses in the running but they're all waiting on word from Panettiere's camp."

Liberace

Nicolas Cage is in talks to play Liberace in a new movie musical. Screenwriters Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have now confirmed Cage is in the pick to play the late pianist. Seltzer said: "We met with Nicolas Cage last year and he really wanted to star in it; he wanted to direct himself in it too."

Philip Marlowe

After being played by the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Robert Mitchum, Robert Montgomery, Dick Powell, James Garner,
James Caan, Powers Boothe & Elliot Gould, the role of quintessential hard boild detective Phillip Marlowe is now going
to be taken up by Clive Owen. Universal Pictures is currently looking at writers and a director, and have not yet decided which title to adapt. They do plan, however, to keep Chandler set in the 1940s in Los Angeles. This is one of my favorites, I hope they do the books justice.
