Dresden Files, Journeyman, Mummy 3, People's Choice Awards, DGA Nominees, Mamma Mia!, Mike Fright, Comic Previews

The Dresden Files

Paul Blackthorne, who will play detective Harry Dresden in SCI FI Channel's "The Dresden Files," spoke to SCI FI Wire about creating the character. He said: "I didn't really think about it, to be honest. I would go around in circles if I started thinking about that. So I went about creating a character in the same way as I would whether people were aware or not. Obviously, Jim Butcher gave me a considerable push-off in the world and the character that he created. I just took it beyond there with regard to the scripts. When the scripts came in, the character further developed in my mind. I read Storm Front. I had this wonderful research idea of reading every book [in the series]. And then the first script came to me, and I realized I needed to start reading the script, because we were shooting the next week. So I never got around to reading all the books. But I enjoyed Storm Front. I was in England at the time, and I was on a train leaving London. I started reading the script as the train left, and I had barely left the terminal when I thought to myself, 'Wow, this would be a nice one to play. It would be a lot of fun.' So I'm really pleased to be involved with it." "The Dresden Files" debuts on SCI FI Channel Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
